Reaching the most difficult-to-serve communities demands new care models that bring multiple stakeholders together to tackle complex barriers for access to care.  Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs) continue to demonstrate that mental health, homelessness, substance use, and access to care are the biggest health issues facing residents of New England.  Yet, little has changed in the last decade to truly partner with our communities to improve outcomes. 

When collaboration across traditional healthcare providers, community organizations, and community members is done right, the results can be catalytic, leading to enduring change that benefits the population as well as the health system. It requires us to shift our thinking beyond traditional metrics such as volume and FFS revenue and recognize downstream benefits.

In this webinar, Seth McGovern from Population Services International and Dennis Calcutt from Connected Families NH will discuss how we can apply models of collective action/community collaboration to care for our most vulnerable populations in New England and beyond, including:

Speaker Bios:

Seth McGovern supports the development and execution of Population Services International's (PSI's) strategy by stewarding PSI’s marketing approach and overseeing PSI’s strategic analytics and performance reporting function. Seth has more than a decade of experience improving health system performance and healthcare markets around the world. Before joining PSI, Seth spent six years at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) increasing access to healthcare in resource-limited settings. He supported multiple national strategic planning processes for the introduction of new health technologies, produced evidence to influence national and global policy, and worked with manufacturers to negotiate improved access agreements. Prior to that Seth also worked at Huron Consulting Group improving financial and operational performance at large US-based hospitals and health systems. Seth earned a B.A. from Carleton College and a MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Management from the London School of Economics.

Dennis Calcutt has over 30 years of experience supporting children, families, and youth mental health. He has worked in many roles, including program coordination, teaching, crisis response, and community outreach. He has also helped build programs and facilities from the ground up. Dennis is known for his patient, collaborative style and his focus on building strong human connections.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education from St. Vincent College. He also earned a core certificate in nonprofit leadership and management from Boston University’s School of Management and is a New Hampshire Listens Fellow through the University of New Hampshire.
